TESTIMONIALS
"Katie is truly gifted in the writing field! I've worked with many authors before, but never have I seen someone able to produce such high quality content in such a concise space in such little time. She nails it every time no matter what industry she is writing for. I've reviewed her copy for technical industries, witty and creative marketing articles, explaining difficult processes, and in her own personal blogging brand. In all areas she is equally talented.
There are many writers in this world, but there are very few Katies!"

Camille Whiting, MBA, Interactive Project & Account Manager at meltmedia"Katie was one of the brightest interns I have worked with in the past decade. I depended on her much more heavily than most interns because of her advanced writing capacity and ability to finish projects in a timely and thorough manner. In fact, Katie is one of the best young writers I have been privileged to work with. Her editing capabilities and command of AP style were impressive, and her ability to draft quality public relations documents for our team was invaluable."

Heather Austin, Director at The Ferraro Group Phoenix"Katie's performance as a writer, proofreader, editor, and go-to-person for a variety of assignments is top-notch. She writes efficiently and effectively. She knows how to research and get answers. She is a supportive team player who practices good customer service and has a great sense of humor.
I highly recommend Katie Hawkes and cannot say enough good things about her. Her enthusiasm to do her best and step up to new challenges is what makes her a great colleague."

QUEENLATIFAH.COMWell, I can now officially say that Queen Latifah's people know my name! Her team reached out to me about writing a
Halloween-themed blog post for her website, and it didn't seem like the type of opportunity I wanted to pass up! I was invited to continue blogging for her site, and next published
5 Tips for First-Time International Travel. Blogging for Queen Latifah? There's no word for that other than AWESOME.

2013 BLOGHER VOICE OF THE YEAR AWARDI was flattered and humbled to be selected as one of BlogHer's 100 Voices of the Year bloggers out of 2,600 submissions. My blog post,
Stop Waiting for Your Life to Start and Start Living it Now, was selected as one of 25 recipients in the Inspiration category. The award was recognized at BlogHer's annual conference in Chicago at an event hosted by Queen Latifah and attended by several big names in the blogging industry.
_______________________________________________________________________THE HUFFINGTON POSTA few years ago, I had the opportunity to publish a blog on
The Huffington Post. I decided to run with it from there, and continued submitting blog posts to the editor -- and they didn't tell me no, so the articles continued being published! You can check out a couple of my favorite posts I wrote for them right here:

6 Famous Movies That Wouldn't Cut It as Silent Films.

SKYHOOK INTERNET MARKETINGI wrote several posts for this marketing agency's blog while employed as their full-time writer. This post,
Why Would I Want a Blog On My Company's Website?, was inspired by many of our clients, who would frequently question whether or not a blog was appropriate for their business site. I wrote the post to address that question, since I figured other people on the Internet were probably asking it as well.
_______________________________________________________________________FLOSS AND BRUSHThis start-up business in the dental industry was created by two best friends who wanted a vibe as easygoing and modern as their own personalities. After meeting with them one-on-one and catching the vision of the cheeky tone they were looking for, I produced all content on the
Floss and Brush website. (They were more than pleased with the result.)
_______________________________________________________________________WORDCAMP PHOENIX 2012As the Marketing Guru on the WordCamp 2012 planning team, I found myself surrounded by WordPress experts who often spoke in jargon I didn’t understand at the time. (I’ve since gotten more up to speed in their world.) In addition to writing the majority of the site content, social media posts and email campaigns to recruit attendees, I also regularly produced fun, modern blog posts like
this one. (And yes, the event sold out.)
_______________________________________________________________________MAKE-A-WISH AMERICAMy supervisors must have trusted my writing abilities as a lowly intern at Make-A-Wish America, because they assigned me the responsibilities of manning the @MakeAWish Twitter account (20,000+ followers) and writing the copy for a 24-hour marquee ad in Times Square. (Check out a picture of that big moment
here.) I worked with the Make-A-Wish marketing team for an additional year after my internship ended, and I continue to freelance for them to this day. (You can see one of my most recent interviews and articles for them
here.)
_______________________________________________________________________CHEGGThis feisty Silicon Valley company is all about affordable textbook rental and a cheeky voice to go with it. I currently write e-mail campaigns on Chegg's behalf for universities that hire them to help recruit students for specific academic programs. (Sorry, no samples for this one for confidentiality reasons! But I can say that they like my work enough to recently double the length of my freelance contract.)

Metal Products Interlink site
is my work. I interviewed the client via several phone conversations, translated his industry jargon into content that would attract the right audience, and produced a site that met and exceeded his expectations.
